Meet Dianna Marino, Eating Disorder Dietitian

Registered dietitian Dianna Marino

Dianna Marino is our newest eating disorder dietitian nutritionist. She is a certified intuitive eating counselor with a master’s in Nutrition Education from Columbia University. Dianna is experienced in working with clients with celiac disease, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, PCOS, and digestive issues, as well as pregnant individuals.

Dianna pursued a career as an eating disorder dietitian after struggling with her own eating disorder. She was desperate to learn the truth about nutrition because her only knowledge came from diet culture and bad, misguided advice. Now, she is honored to share what she has learned with others who are struggling with disordered eating.

“I know firsthand how difficult this journey can be and can provide my clients with the compassion and empathy they need as well as my expertise in the field.”

Dianna knows that nutrition is not a one size fits all approach, so she works to get to know each client in a conversational and compassionate manner in order to offer individualized nutrition counseling. “When a client can feel heard, understood, and challenged at the same time, then we know it is a good match.”

She works with clients to help them unlearn their harmful, ingrained diet culture beliefs and regain trust in themselves and their bodies.

Dianna hopes schools and pediatricians will implement an “all foods fit” method in teaching nutrition, rather than promoting a black-and-white good vs. bad food mindset. “Protecting kids from diet culture as much as we can is important in preventing the occurrence of disordered eating or eating disorders.”

As a Health at Every Size-informed dietitian, Dianna is excited to see more clinicians embracing the philosophy. Her hope is that the eating disorder field and medical field as a whole, will start to recognize the harmful impacts of weight stigma and treat eating disorders in all size bodies.

In her free time, Dianna enjoys spending time with family, including her new baby, watching sunsets by the beach, practicing yoga, traveling, and trying new restaurants and recipes.
